EduZWaCE – Education for Zero Waste and Circular Economy
Skills and competences related to Zero Waste and Circular Economy are becoming more important than ever. Although the management of waste continues to improve in the EU, the European economy currently still loses a significant amount of potential “secondary raw materials” such as metals, wood, glass, paper and plastics. In order to cope with this problem, the European Union has adopted in 2015 an ambitious action plan “Toward a Circular Economy“ - a set of measures to help accelerate Europe's transition towards a circular economy, while boosting global competitiveness, promoting sustainable economic growth and generating new jobs.
The project focuses on the two main target groups: teachers and trainers from vocational education and training institutions, as well as technicians and workers from reuse, repair and recycling centers. The new training programmes, including for example free and open source educational software, will help them develop new interdisciplinary skills and competences relevant for the achievement of the Zero Waste and Circular Economy goals, while fostering green employability. Based on a collaborative approach, the project will support cooperation, exchange and knowledge transfer between project partners and other stakeholders at the local, national, and international level.
